When Emma and Teresa decided that they needed a new challenge, their initial thought was to take their talents as cake decorators to a new level. ‘The motivation behind setting up the business was we wanted to be our own boss, running our own business, pursuing further skills and bringing the art of cake decorating to another level with new contemporary and creative ideas and designs’.

These talented ladies will create anything from a basic celebration cake through to an out of this world masterpiece with many examples on their website.

Both Teresa and Emma worked at Lathams of Broughton for a number of years and are master cake decorators, however whilst considering the business they realised that they would need help from the very start. ‘At the very beginning we had a meeting with Martyn White who opened our eyes to a lot of things we hadn’t even thought about’.

‘Once we had seen Martyn we attended a full day starting in business course delivered by Fergus on behalf of the Business Venture Group who we found very interesting, he had a lot of experience and knowledge. We both enjoyed this day’.

However, it’s not all been a piece of cake as both Emma and Teresa are currently not taking a wage out of the business and are working part time jobs outside of the shop opening hours. ‘Being aware of this at the beginning, we believe it was worth it to achieve our goal of having a successful business’.

Looking to the future Emma and Teresa are firmly concentrating on growing their customer base and are working on marketing the business to establish their name.
